Photo-parade in Uglich has become the international festival

10 September, 2013

In summer 2007 quite small in size and by the number of participants the photo festival "Uglich - the face of the Russian province" took place. Six years later, the festival has become one of the largest manifestation of photography opportunities in Russia: the current photo-parade has been attended by over two hundred photographers from almost fifty cities of Russia and seven foreign countries - Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, USA, Israel, Uzbekistan, etc.
In photo-parade such masters of domestic photo journalism as Vladimir Vyatkin, Yury Feklistov, Alexander Juiss, Artem Zhitenev, Victoria Ievleva took part. Within the framework of photo-parade one of the first posthumous exhibition of  remarkable photographer Alexander Lapin who died last year took place.
"We have changed the format of our event last year, - said Elena Kaneva, deputy

tourist head of Uglich municipal district, - the event has obviously outgrown the frames of photo-festival. By the way, following our example photo opening days are held now in the towns of Ples, Suzdal and other tourist centers. Yet, after all, Uglich was the first one and we don’t hide the fact that the standard for us is the "photo capital" of Europe – the city of Perpignan, where photo exhibitions, master classes by leading photographers, creative seminars and other events are held throughout the whole summer and take place for the 32-nd time already".
Photo exhibitions and master-class this year took place almost at ten best tourist sites of the city: at modern house of cinema "Russia", four-star hotel "Volga Riviera", hotel “Moscow”, in the building of former City Council in the Kremlin, in the House of Friendship, restaurant complex "Russian Estate", etc. Specially with photo-parade the opening (at the place of former cafe) of art gallery by tourist information center was timed. Exactly in the gallery one hundred and fifty photos from the short-list of  the competition "Point on the map. Towns of Russian province"

were presented as the reminder of the first theme of the Uglich photo-fiesta .
In addition to the competition, within the scope of photo-parade the photo-marathon "The Restless Pixel" has taken place for the prize of "Moscow Sports” magazine, as well as blitz -competition "The City by the big water", an exhibition of young Uzbek photographers "From Uzbekistan - with Love" , the exhibition "Dutch and Flemish photographers on Russia". It was quite hot at "talkative" part of photo-parade, too, for example, at the lecture "What modern photographer and artist is scared of ?”. Or at discussion "On the most important in photography".

It is noteworthy that Uglich photo-parade is attended not only by "burdened" with numerous prizes and awards masters but by "new unknown tribe" of photographers - ten local schoolgirls  aged from 12 to 16 years who are graduates from the School of young photoreporter.
The Grand Prix of VII Photo-parade - «Canon» camera – was awarded for a series of photographs to Elena Eleeva from Samara.
"The fact that in the days of the photo-parade there were no vacant rooms in Uglich hotels proves that we are on the right track, - said Ms. Kaneva at the closing ceremony of photo-fiesta. – Today in Uglich calendar of tourist events the photo-parade is definitely number one".
